Why does a positive pressure container need an airlock room?

12/12/2023

In the realm of mobile laboratory setups, the design of positive pressure containers stands as an irreplaceable cornerstone. Among its critical components, the airlock chamber in TLS OFFSHORE CONTAINERS' positive pressure container not only boasts automatic detection and alarm functions for hazardous substances but also incorporates emergency shutdown buttons and fire suppression systems, elevating the safety of laboratory environments.
  • 1. Automatic Alarm System: A Swift Shield Against Danger
Equipped with highly sensitive gas detectors, the airlock chamber instantly triggers an alarm upon detecting the presence of hazardous substances. This immediate alert system provides timely warnings to laboratory personnel, enabling them to take prompt measures and thwart potential dangers effectively.
  • 2. Emergency Shutdown Button: Rapid Response in Critical Situations
To address unforeseen circumstances, the airlock chamber is fitted with emergency shutdown buttons. In the face of emergencies, researchers can swiftly press the shutdown button, rapidly cutting off power and equipment associated with the container, ensuring the safety of the laboratory environment. This design significantly enhances responsiveness in critical situations.
  • 3. Fire Suppression System: Mitigating Fire Risks
Anticipating potential fire hazards, the airlock chamber is also equipped with fire suppression systems, such as fire extinguishers or sprinkler systems. Upon detecting hazardous substances or other potential sources of fire, this apparatus rapidly extinguishes the fire source, minimizing the impact of fires on laboratory equipment and personnel.
  • 4. Maintaining Positive Pressure in the Main Compartment: Ensuring Purity
Positive pressure containers typically need to maintain positive pressure to prevent external air, dust, or harmful substances from entering the working area, ensuring the purity and cleanliness of the internal air. Through an efficient air filtration system, the quality of the internal air is maintained, preventing contamination.
When personnel open the outer door of the container, the airlock chamber's door remains closed. If unsafe substances enter, the airlock chamber detects them without affecting the interior of the main compartment. Upon closing the outer door of the container, if no hazardous substances are detected in the airlock chamber, personnel can open the airlock chamber's door without affecting the overall positive pressure of the container.

This intelligent safety mechanism system provides comprehensive security for researchers, ensuring that the mobile laboratory container can deliver an efficient, reliable, and secure working environment in various scenarios.
